08.08.08 is really a nice and memorable date especially coz is the opening of the "BEIJING 2008 OLYMPIC GAMES"!!! FINALLY the long-awaited moment has come!!! Because of today's date, not only many people want to get married but many pregnant ladies also want to give birth! :)
The opening ceremony started at 8.00pm and I'm sure many people around the world were watching the "live" of it on TV. I was one of those people and I just finished watching it not long only. The ceremony lasted for almost 4 hours!!! I was actually quite sleepy already in the 2nd hour of the ceremony but I just didn't want to miss anything.hahaha.
According to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games official website, there are approximately 10500 participants from 205 "National Olympic Committees"(NOC)! No wonder the parade of athletes took soo long just now.hehe. The 29th Olympiad will be held from 8th August until 24th August 2008. "ONE WORLD ONE DREAM" (同一个世界 同一个梦想) is the theme slogan for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
The Official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games are the 5 cute "FuWa". They are BeiBei (blue-Fish), JingJing (black-Panda), HuanHuan (red-Olympic Flame), YingYing (orange-Tibetan Antelope), and NiNi (green-Swallow). When you put their names together, you'll get "Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni" which means "Beijing Welcomes You" or "Welcome To Beijing".

The National Stadium for the Olympic Games 2008 is new and is known as "Bird's Nest" coz of it's structure. I think it's really cool. It's pretty when it has lights on at night^^
